Sierra Boggess

’04 Alum is Little Mermaid

Sierra Boggess (www.sierraboggess.com), who graduated in 2004 with a degree in Musical Theatre, is currently starring in the title role of Disney’s The Little Mermaid on Broadway. She previously starred as Christine in The Phantom of the Opera in Las Vegas.

Boggess is the second Millikin alum to play Ariel—the character in the animated film was voiced by ’83 grad Jodi Benson.

Boggess recently spoke about her Millikin education on Joan Hamburg’s radio show in New York City. When asked how she got her agent, Boggess said, “I went to Millikin University, a small school in…Decatur, Illinois…it has a fantastic musical theatre program. One of the things they did was take their seniors to New York and we did a showcase for agents and I got my agent from that.”

Boggess and the rest of the cast were also featured on ABC's Good Morning America January 10. Boggess said, "I always grew up loving her (Ariel) and...always wanting to sound like her."
