| About the Millikin Information Literacy Tutorial: The Millikin Information Literacy Tutorial (MILT), a web-based multimedia tool, was designed in collaboration between Staley Library and the Critical Writing, Reading and Research program. The tutorial for Critical Writing, Reading and Research I (IN150) introduces students to the concept of information literacy, scholarly research tools, and strategies for citing sources and avoiding plagiarism. MILT was produced using the TechSmith Camtasia Studio program. Users will need the Adobe Flash player plug-in installed on their browser and headphones or speakers enabled. Librarian Joe Hardenbrook and CWRR Director Carmella Braniger authored the tutorial script. Librarians Karin Borei, Cindy Fuller, Debbie Myers, and Amanda Pippitt provided editorial assistance, along with Judi Crowe and Mike George from the English department. Braniger, Crowe, George and Hardenbrook serve as narrators. The Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) provided the Camtasia Studio software. MILT is modeled after the Campus Library User Education (CLUE) tutorial from the Library and Information Literacy Program of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and content is based on the Texas Information Literacy Tutorial (TILT) from the University of Texas System Digital Library, with permissions. For questions about this tutorial, contact Joe Hardenbrook. |
