is a periodic Web newsletter by the University Librarian, Karin Borei. The
intended audience for the newsletter is Millikin University students,
faculty, and staff, as well as anyone else who uses Staley Library for
research and information. We hope that you find each one useful as well as
interesting.
I am in the process now of
documenting the many new things we have been putting in place in the library
(physical as well as virtual) over the summer. Here's a taste:
We
are creating web lists of our periodicals subscriptions by academic
disciplines. Some of these lists are done, and you can sample them here.
Jennifer Masciadrelli, one of our new Research/Instruction Librarians, is
continuing the work of producing these.
We
have initiated (beginning with June 2001) placing our monthly New
Acquisitions lists on our web site, and you can find those here.
Marsha Leach, Office Manager and Acquisitions Associate, will be producing
these web lists throughout the year.
We
have new staff members whom you can meet here.
You can also see us all having a good
time together.
Below
are some "before" pictures.
"After" pictures would show a
consolidated music area on the third floor, an impressive new archives
room, a display area for student art, five replaced and one additional
library research computer stations and two additional workstations for
campus e-mail, and various study seating and shelving improvements throughout the
building.
The music area and the archives room are
largely the work of Susan Avery, University Archivist as well as Library
Instruction Coordinator, and Jason Butterick, Archival Associate, while the
shifting in the stacks was supervised by Gavena Dahlman, Circulation Associate (Evening).
