On the first e-reserves page, click on Electronic Reserves and Course Materials. In the Main Course Index, choose your readings by ONE of the following:
Note that these documents are pdf files, and thus take somewhat longer to load than a web page. Also, the resulting documents are only as clear as was the original. If you wish to read one on-screen, as opposed to printing a copy, consider using the magnifying tool (with a + sign) on the Adobe tool bar.
You will need to use the course password that your instructor has given you, and you will also need to agree to copyright stipulations by clicking on "agree." To find the reserves for your course, click on the course number above. That is, go to http://millikin.docutek.com/ If your course does not have electronic reserve materials but you are curious about what an actual collection of e-reserve materials look like and works, try the fictional Scandinavian Studies course (SC111) which requires no password. The system's introductory materials (the second link on the first page) includes tutorials for faculty and librarians, although special log-ins are required to actually make changes within the system. For the foreseeable future, the library will keep handling the electronic part of placing materials on e-reserves, that is, course set-ups as well as document scanning and uploading. We will work directly with any interested faculty member to make sure that the materials are in the right sequence and units. We in the library see offering electronic reserves as complementary to the library's broader role on campus and within the curriculum, one that is consistent with traditional library services, and a service that we can provide for those who feel that they already have enough else to do to prepare and teaching their courses without taking on work that the library has done for them in the past. |
