| From
President Douglas Zemke, May 2, 2006:
It is a pleasure to accept the
recommendation of the Employee Recognition Committee
that Gavena Dahlman be honored as Employee of the Month
for April 2006. The Employee Recognition Committee
received very compelling support for Gavena's
nomination, including the following comments: |

President Zemke and the Employee
Recognition Committee come to the library to make the
presentation of certificate and goodies, including parking
permit, tickets to Sugar, and Millikin memorabilia,
as the rest of the library staff looks on.

"As part of the "frontline" of
library service (making sure the library runs smoothly until
midnight Sundays through Thursdays), Gavena constantly
interacts with a wide spectrum of the Millikin community. A
sense of humor, patience, common-sense, and above all a true
desire to help the library's patrons make her an
approachable source of assistance and she provides excellent
service to Millikin's faculty, students, staff,
administrators, and alumni. Outside the immediate Millikin
community, Gavena ably assists our community patrons, who
often visit Millikin for the sole purpose of using the
library." Another colleague commented, "I can only say
"amen" to everything that has already been said. I have
worked with Gavena for over five years, and some of that
time as her direct supervisor. Her service orientation
toward the library's public (Millikin students, faculty and
staff) is phenomenal, she is a fine colleague, and she cares
about the lives of our student workers while also setting
high standards and expectations for their work. Gavena is
very deserving of the Employee of the Month honor."
