Controversial Issues and Hot Topics

• Type your issue/topic into online catalog search box.  For example: divorce, holocaust, war, homosexuality, gay, lesbian, gangs, "drug abuse", "eating disorders", anorexia, bulimia, slaves, slavery, suicide, race, disabilities, autism, etc.
• Click the Find button, then use the Juvenile Collection limit located on the right side of the screen. 

Folk & Fairy Tales

• Type the following search term into the online catalog search box: folklore 
• Then type the name of the country you are interested in (England, Nigeria, Japan, etc.) 
• Click the Find button, then use the Juvenile Collection limit located on the right side of the screen. 

Graphic Novels

• Type one of the following search terms/phrases into the catalog search box: "comic books", "graphic novels".
• Click the Find button, then use the Juvenile Collection limit located on the right side of the screen.
• Or, browse the call numbers PN 6700-6790 (on the third floor of the library) for graphic novels in the 'regular' book collection (books stacks).  Most graphic novels are shelved under these call numbers.

Historical Novels

• Type the following search terms/phrases into the online catalog search box: history OR,
  if you are searching for a specific time period: "civil war", "middle ages", "american revolution", etc.
• Then type "fiction" 
• Click the Find button, then use the Juvenile Collection limit located on the right side of the screen.

Horror

• Type one of the following search terms into the online catalog search box: horror, ghosts, supernatural, vampires, monsters, werewolves, murder.
• Click the Find button, then use the Juvenile Collection limit located on the right side of the screen.

Humor

• Type the following search term into the online catalog search box: humorous.
• Click the Find button, then use the Juvenile Collection limit located on the right side of the screen.

Mysteries and Adventure

• Type one of the following search terms/phrases into the online catalog search box: mystery, detective, spies, adventure.
• Click the Find button, then use the Juvenile Collection limit located on the right side of the screen.

Nonfiction

• Type one of the following search terms/phrases into the online catalog search box  (with quotation marks if more than one word): biology, "natural history", biography, chemistry, astronomy, religion, art, history... [or, whatever subject you're looking for]
• Click the Find button, then use the Juvenile Collection limit located on the right side of the screen.

Poetry

• Type in the following search terms into the online catalog search box: poetry.
• Click the Find button, then use the Juvenile Collection limit located on the right side of the screen.

Science Fiction and Fantasy

• Type one of the following search terms/phrases into the online catalog search box (with the quotation marks): "science fiction" , "time travel", "space time", "outer space", [for science fiction] OR fantasy, supernatural, fairies, dragons, magic [for fantasy]
• Click the Find button, then use the Juvenile Collection limit located on the right side of the screen.
