The Argus Clearinghouse is the premier collection of subject-arranged Internet guides. The Argus Clearinghouse was established by University of Michigan librarians in 1993 as the Clearinghouse for Subject-Oriented Internet Resource Guides, and it is presently maintained by Argus Associates. Each site on the over 1,000 guides is rated according to set criteria, and each broad subject section can be searched using your own words. The Business and Employment section contains guides on accounting, advertising, marketing, finance, economics, international trade, small business, and many others.

Economic Statistics Briefing Room: The White House provides links to statistical information compiled by Federal agencies on topics which include income; employment/unemployment & earnings; production & business activity; prices; money, credit & securities markets; transportation; and international statistics.

FINWeb: "The primary objective of FINWeb is to list Internet resources providing substantive information concerning economics and finance-related topics." Many links.

EDGAR Database: Electronic depository of corporate information filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Includes 10-K annual reports. Searchable by topic such as corporation name.

The SEDAR Database contains publicly accessible information and documents filed with the securities commissions by Canadian public companies and mutual funds as well as related third parties, all of whom are required to file disclosure documents and other information electronically.

CNN/Money. National and international business and finance news. Sections include hot stories, markets, your money, small business, stock quotes, and CNN Interactive.

"The Motley Fool is a company that aims to educate, amuse, and enrich the individual investor." The "School" section includes a discussion of the Dow index, its history, how it works, and daily reports from it. Another feature suggests several approaches to creating stock portfolios. The site is recommended by USA Weekend (12/26/97) for its "irreverent approach to the traditionally sober field of finance."

SBA: Small Business Administration Home Page: Offers information about the Small Business Administration including and its different offices. The are sections under starting, financing, and expanding your business, and information about local SBA offices.

Securities and Exchange Commission: Contains information about the SEC, the SEC's rules, information for investors (in report form), information for small businesses, and links to other sites of interest. Searchable.

Federal Reserve Bank of New York : current news items; statistical information including daily foreign exchange rates and domestic economic data; Federal Reserve regulations and related publications; job opportunities. Searchable by topic.

Bureau of Labor Statistics: Includes statistics and text, press releases, Consumer Price Indexes, Economy at a Glance. Can create personalized tables.

Bureau of Economic Analysis: As the USA's accountant, the BEA distributes data from three areas. National: GDP, personal income, gross product by industry; Regional: state personal income, gross state product; International: US investment and foreign investment in the US. Contains downloadable data, reports, and press releases.

University of Texas Advertising World: Contains resources for advertising and marketing professionals, students, and teachers. Has links to information about advertisers, advertising agencies, children's advertising, consumer psychology, demographic/economic information, laws and regulations, market research, ethics, software for advertising, tobacco advertising, public relations, and many many more.
