The Argus Clearinghouse is the premier collection of subject-arranged Internet guides. The Argus Clearinghouse was established by University of Michigan librarians in 1993 as the Clearinghouse for Subject-Oriented Internet Resource Guides, and it is presently maintained by Argus Associates. Each site on the over 1,000 guides is rated according to set criteria, and each broad subject section can be searched using your own words. The Social Sciences and Social Issues section includes guides to Adoption, Aging, Gerontology, Death and Dying, Alcoholism, Social Research, Social Theory, Families, Marriage, Feminism, and Social Justice.
Dead Sociologists Society: This site has two valuable features. It has an index to major sociological theorists (Comte, Marx, Durkheim, Simmel, Weber, and more) with biographical information and a summary of their work. It also has great links to sociology related web pages.
American Sociological Association: The American Sociological Association homepage offers information about the organization, the ASA Code of Ethics, an Employment Bulletin, and information about funding and publications.
Criminal Justice Links: This site contains comprehensive links to criminal justice on the web. It is divided by sections which include Agencies, International Criminal Justice Sources, Juvenile Delinquency and Justice, Drug and Alcohol Information, Police Agencies and Resources, Obscenity, Censorship, and the Communications Decency Act, Prisons and the Death Penalty, Searchable Law Databases, Law Sites, and Discussion Groups and Journals.
Administration on Aging: News, fact sheets, statistics and other information on senior care issues for seniors, families, and professionals (mainly in the U.S., but with some international coverage). Includes the Eldercare Locator, a searchable database that links seniors and their caregivers and families to state and local senior care services and links to outside resources such as the National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA).
