Student Organizations Allocations Committee (SOAC)
Each year the Student Activity Fee Committee
allocates the SOAC a certain amount of funding to
then be distributed to Millikin's registered student
organizations. If you are a registered student
organization that is in good standing with the
University, you may then apply for funding during the
designated allocation periods (November and April).
The SOAC does not fund organizations such as
Homecoming, Student Housing Council, Decaturian, Collage, WJMU, Kirkland Fine Arts Center, or
the University Center Board (these organizations receive allocations throught the SAFC).

Funding Process
Information
Timeframe: Allocations processes take place in November and April. Organizations apply for funding in each semester for the following semester (i.e. apply in the fall for funding in the spring).
Funding Guidelines: The committee has provided some general guidelines to help your organization produce a powerful and complete allocation packet. These guidelines are also used by the committee in making decision regarding allocations. Use the link provided here for a list of policies and guidelines.
How to Apply:The Allocations Packet, consisting of all necessary forms, will be e-mailed to your organizational president and treasurer in the weeks prior to the allocation deadline. Read the packet carefully and complete all areas of the packet as they pertain to your organization. Download a packet here.
Treasurer's Workshops : Treasurer's Workshops provide student
organization leaders with a wealth of
information regarding the utilization of the student
organization account and applying for funding.
A member from each organization applying
for funding, usually the Treasurer, must
attend these workshops to be considered for
funding. For Spring 2008, Treasurers should attend the President's Council Meeting on Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 at 4pm in LRTUC. OSP Staff will be available to look over completed or draft packets and to answer questions.
The Deadline: Deadlines are fixed and
rigid and there are NO EXCEPTIONS for late or
incomplete packets. The deadline for Fall 2008 funding is April 11th, 2008 by 5:00PM at the Office of Student Programs.
The Interview: This semester, each organization has two options in regard to the interview portion of the process. An organization can sign up for an interview time to present their funding request, or an organization can waive the opportunity to present their funding request and accept the decision made in lieu of the interview. Please mark the appropriate box and sign where indicated on the form included in the packet to confirm your choice. Interviews may be scheduled in the Office of Student Programs when the allocation packet is submitted. It is your responsibility to sign up for an interview time. You will not receive a reminder. Failure to choose or not choose an interview, or failure to show up for your interview time will result in the organization not being considered for Fall 2008 funding. Allocation letters should be available to student organizations by the conclusion of the semester. Organizations requesting less than $500 in funds are not required to schedule an interview.
Emergency Funding: If your
organization misses the allocations process or
needs additional funding during the year
the organization can apply for Emergency Funding by turning
in an
Emergency Funding Request. The SOAC may
not be able to fulfill all emergency requests
since funding is very limited. Plan ahead.
