Top Business Executive Talks to Tabor School of Business Students
Junior and senior students from Millikin University’s Tabor School of Business had the unique opportunity to hear inside business information from a national business leader when Dennis Zank, President of Raymond James & Associates visited campus.
Zank participated in a question and answer forum with upper level students in Accounting and Finance and Millikin’s Business Policy course. Zank addressed careers in the financial field, gave advice on financial planning and talked with the students about the current status and the future of the financial industry. Zank’s visit to Millikin was arranged by the Brechnitz Group of Raymond James located in Decatur.
Raymond James began with a single office in 1962 and has matured into one of the nation’s premier, full-service investment firms with nearly 5,000 financial advisors in 2,200 locations serving clients throughout the United States, Canada and overseas. The company’s growth can be traced back to the company’s founding philosophy to create a different kind of financial services firm by recognizing that the key to long-term success was financial planning - understanding each individual’s personal needs and dreams for the future, then offering targeted solutions.
In addition to his position as president of Raymond James & Associates, Inc., Dennis Zank serves on the firm’s Operating Committee and is also a director of the firm’s insurance subsidiary, Planning Corporation of America.
Prior to being appointed to his current position, Zank had served as Executive Vice President of Operations and Administration since 1992. In that role, he directed securities and customer operations, client services, information technology, office services, human resources, financial and regulatory reporting, and international operations.
Zank joined Raymond James’ Accounting Department in 1978, becoming the controller in 1982. He was appointed treasurer in 1985 and was promoted to senior vice president in 1986.
From 2000 to 2003, Zack served on the board of directors of the Options Clearing Corporation. He also served a three-year term on the board of directors of the National Securities Clearing Corporation from 1994 to 1997.
Zank is a 1976 graduate of the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and earned an MBA from the University of Tampa in 1982.
