Dr. J. Mark Munoz teaches International Business, International Management, International Business Consulting, International Immersion Program (for MBA’s) and Introduction to Business at the Tabor School of Business at Millikin University.
Dr. Munoz earned his MBA and PhD in Management at the University of San Jose. He has worked for over 15 years in management capacities with international companies (i.e., Shell in Asia, Kerametal in the Slovak Republic, and NFO Worldgroup in the US). His career and business experiences were in sales, marketing, marketing research, business development, and management consulting. He has lived, traveled, and conducted business in most parts of the world.
He stays involved in several international business activities. He presently serves as member of the Board of Directors for two international companies, and facilitates international consulting and finance for companies in emerging markets.
In addition, he conducts interviews with CEO’s around the world in behalf of the Tabor School of Business. Interview excerpts may be viewed here .
His dedication to research has led to international recognition. Dr. Munoz is a two time recipient of the "Best Research Paper Award" in international conferences. He is published in several academic and business journals such as : International Journal of Management, Journal of Global Business and Technology, International Education Journal, International Journal for Contemporary Hospitality Management, International Entrepreneurship and Management Journal, and Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Munoz is listed in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.
He is active in the academic community. He is a member of the Editorial Board of two international journals: the Journal for International Business and Entrepreneurship Development, and International Journal of Management Entrepreneurship.
In addition, he has presented several papers in international business conferences such as International Council for Small Business (ICSB) 48th World Conference (Ireland), Third International Conference on Knowledge, Culture, and Change in Organizations (Malaysia), International Conference of the Global Business and Technology Association (South Africa) Academy for Global Business Advancement, 2nd World Congress (India) United States Association for Small Business Executives (USASBE) Conference in (CA, USA), International Society of Franchising (19th Annual Conference) University of Westminster (London, UK), Academy of International Business (AIB) Southeast Asia Regional Conference (Philippines), 5th Global Conference on Business and Economics, Cambridge University (London, UK), and Academy of Management Conference 2006 (Atlanta, GA).
Dr. Munoz is a multi-awarded professor. He was awarded a Teaching Excellence Award at Millikin University in 2007. In the previous year, he was honored with a Literary/Cultural Excellence Award called the "Calatagan Award" by the Philippine American Artists and Writers Association for the book “ Land of My Birth."
He has authored several books. Recent books include Land of My Birth (socio-political critique of the Philippines), Winning Across Borders (35-country study on the impact of globalization on contemporary business), In Transition (immigrant life in America), and A Salesman in Asia (cross-cultural sales and management strategies for China, India, and the Asia-Pacific).
