Dr. Watson obtained his Bachelor's degree from the University of
Washington and both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Economics from Purdue University. His major areas
of interest are Macroeconomics and International Business. He has traveled and pursued study
opportunities in Mexico, Russia, Malaysia, Japan and the European Union.
In January 2006 he and other faculty traveled with a class of 10 students
to Mexico City to work on a business research project. The students collected data related
to consumers' buying habits in the market for food products with nutritional supplements.
In Spring 2000 Dr. Watson spent three weeks at Moscow State University and two weeks
elsewhere in Russia exploring Russia's financial system and visiting some of the clients of
Russia's Small Business Fund. The Russia Small Business Fund is associated with the European
Bank for Reconstruction and Development and makes loans throughout Russia to small business.
