2008-2009 TEA Committee
We are pleased to announce the recipients of the annual Teaching Excellence Award for 2008. We had many excellent teaching portfolios submitted for review. It is both exciting and humbling to read about the passion and creativity and commitment Millikin faculty bring to their teaching.
Based on a review of the teaching excellence portfolios, the following faculty have been selected as recipients of the Teaching Excellence Award for 2008:
Dr. Marianne Robertson
Professor of Biology
Dr. Cheryl Hilgenberg
Professor of Nursing
Tina Nicholson
Associate Professor of Music
This award recognizes that each of these faculty members is one of our best teachers at Millikin University, where he or she has developed effective means of integrating theory and practice, built opportunities for effective collaborative work for students, and created innovative courses and improvements to instructional practices. Their evaluations and evidence of student learning show that they are faculty whose teaching is recognized as excellent by peers, administrators and students.
The TEA award includes a $3,000 merit based salary increase effective at the start of the next academic year, July 1, 2008.
Teaching Excellence Award recipients become members of a group of distinguished teachers at Millikin University who will serve as the Teaching Excellence Award Committee for 2008-2009. As the need arises, TEA winners serve as mentors for new faculty, junior faculty, adjunct faculty or others who which to improve their teaching. In conjunction with the Dean of Teachng and Learning, the TEA Committee will develop teaching excellence workshops and serve as the Teaching Excellence Award selection committee for 2009.
Congratulations to our 2008-2009 Teaching Excellence Award faculty!
Sincerely,
Dr. Randy Brooks, Dean of Teaching & Learning
