Synopsis
Stop Kiss -- is the title encouraging or inhibiting? Do we decide our relationships based on personal or social codes? This funny and poignant play veers between the past and the present as the characters finally decide how love punctuates their lives.

Notes

Diana Son writes in the script that the play takes place “now.” Yet, because so many drastic changes have happened since the playwright’s version of “now” that would directly affect the lives of these NYC characters (i.e. 9/11, cell phones, public gay marriages), I have chosen to place the play in the time that it was written, which is 1999-2000. While I wish that violence against gay couples were diminishing, I fear that this issue is still all too contemporary. Hopefully, soon, this play will seem historical, dated and unnecessary on all counts.
