Will
lovely Josephine summon the courage to follow her heart, rather
than the dictates of her conscience? Will Little Buttercup and
the Captain find a way to bridge the social gap between them?
Will Sir Joseph ever find someone “suitable” to be
his bride? Of course they will! … but not until Gilbert
and Sullivan have thoroughly skewered social conventions and class
structures in 19th century Great Britain. As ‘Able Seaman’
Ralph Rackstraw so eloquently puts it to those aboard the H.M.S.
Pinafore: “… love burns as brightly in the fo’c’s’le
as it does on the quarter-deck!” Captain Corcoran take care!
There’s a change in store for you! |
