Activity 1: $1,751,233 over five years: Faculty development and new program development to strengthen retention of students.

To strengthen retention throughout the University, and particularly among high-risk students, through improved advising and support services. Indicators of success include: 1) Increase freshman-sophomore retention from 79% to 83% by 2006-2007, 2) Increase six-year graduation rate from 61% to 70% by 2006-2007, 3) By September 2007 the freshman to sophomore retention rate for Exploratory Students and other at-risk students will increase to 83%. Approximately 27% ($473K) for staff to strengthen student support services; 3% ($50K) for travel supporting faculty development; 1% ($25K) for contracted costs related to online registration; and 69% ($1,202K) for faculty development and release time to accomplish major grant activities.

Project Management and Evaluation: $50,000. 50% ($25K) for travel of evaluation consultant; and 50% ($25K) for contract with evaluation consultant.
