Paul Folger (Institutional Research), Jacek Lubecki, Robert Money, and Brian Posler (Political Science)
Start Date: May 2004 Completed: June 2004
With support from the Office of Institutional Research, the members of the Political Science Department developed a new on-line, skill-based plan of studies framework and improved the departmental advising system. This project helped the department focus on implementing newly developed online advising tools, determine how best to use these tools in the advising process, and explore how departmental innovations can be shared with other departments across the university.
Outcomes:
- Revised departmental advising practices with supporting objectives, including use of online tools.
- Defined the role of the Millikin University pre-law advisor.
- Revised curriculum to mesh more effectively with advising tools.
- Completely updated the Handbook for Majors in light of advising changes.
- Developed a plan of action and assessment for the department.
- Brainstormed options for spreading departmental advising practices and techniques across the university.
- Laid groundwork for future program review.
