SURVEY AUTOMATION FOR THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION'S UNIT ASSESSMENT SYSTEM
Nan Gaylen (Education)
Start Date: January 2007
The School of Education is pursuing an initiative to convert all of its data collection to digital form via the Banner data management system in order to simplify the documenting of student knowledge, skills, and dispositions for teaching. This phase of the project is focused on automating the process for surveying student teachers, university supervisors, and cooperating teachers. The previous process was paper-based and highly inefficient, with very little usable data resulting from survey efforts.
The new process will put web-based surveys on the School of Education website. Each party in the student process can evaluate the program and the two other participants in the student teaching experience. Automating the process eliminates the time-consuming data collation and entry work, yields a higher survey return rate, and facilitates the data analysis effort which is geared toward program evaluation and refinement.
