Teabowls can also be created by throwing on the potter's wheel. For this technique, a ball of clay is adhered to the surface of a wheel and is molded into a uniform lump of clay. Then, the potter presses a hole into the middle and makes a cylinder which is then formed into a bowl (Sanders124). Many times, the regular surface of a thrown bowl is deformed with hands, or by pressing shavings of partially dried clay into the sides.
