Collaborating with Technology-Preliminary Project Designs

Designing an Online Collaborative Project:

These five steps are essential in the beginning stages of planning a good collaborative project for educational purposes.

Explanation of the project
Give details about the project: what is it about, what is going to be done, how it is going to happen, why the project is being undertaken, etc..

Parameters for participation
Explain who is going to be involved in the project. Outline who the project is designed for and any requests for participation if it is open to the outside world. If it is inviting participation, include details such as grade levels, geographical locations, the number of participants, or any other specifics that might limit participation in the project. If requesting participation, include the email of the project coordinator so those wishing to join the project can contact that person directly.

Duration of the project
Note how long it is expected to run. Will it be for six weeks starting in October? Will it run for the whole school year? There should be some kind of time frame to the project.

Expected outcomes of the project
Provide a list of what you expect students to gain by doing this project and how it fits in the curriculum.

Technology and Technological Skills Needed
Make a detailed checklist of the technology needed for your collaborative project, along with a list of the technology skills required to complete the collaborative project.
