Collaborating with Technology-Working as a Team

Working In Teams
Student Teamwork:

According to David and Roger Johnson (1991), the teacher’s role in establishing a cooperative structure for student teamwork includes five strategies (p. 62):

  1. Clearly specify the objectives for the lesson.
  2. Make decisions about placing students in teams before the lesson or project begins.
  3. Clearly explain the task and goal structure to the students.
  4. Monitor the effectiveness of the teams and intervene to provide task assistance (such as answering questions) or to increase students’ interpersonal and group skills.
  5. Evaluate students’ achievement and help students discuss how they collaborated with one another.
