Position Summary:   This position will report to the Head Football Coach.  This internship is designed as a 10 month educational experience from August 1 to May 31 and is designed to give an individual with an interest in coaching the opportunity to hone his skill development and coaching ability in one or more position areas.  The appointment is for one year,with a possible one year renewal.Pursuing a graduate degree at a nearby university may be possible.

Primary Responsibilities - Intern Functions:         

Under the guidance of the Head Football Coach, the Intern will:

  1. Learn the process for recruiting successful student athletes.
  2. Assist in recruitment and retention of football players for Millikin University.
  3. Gain an understanding for the role of the student athlete in a DIII Athletic Program.
  4. Develop skills to compete for a full time assistant coaching position or graduate assistantship.
  5. Serve as a position coach.
  6. Develop ability to break down film in conjunction with other football staff.
  7. Develop ability to monitor academic progress of student-athletes.

Under the guidance of the Athletic Director, the Intern will:

  1. Have an opportunity to gain an understanding of the structure and organization of the NCAA, specifically Division III.
  2. Have an opportunity to gain an understanding of the role of athletics in a relatively small comprehensive University.
  3. Have an opportunity to gain exposure to athletic operations and event management beyond football.

Millikin University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Biology.

The Millikin University Biology Department seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank starting Fall 2015.  With ten biologists, a lab coordinator and support staff, the Biology Department delivers programming in three tracks:  traditional biology, molecular/cell biology, and allied health.  The Department seeks a teacher-scholar with strong vertebrate anatomy background, dedicated to undergraduate teaching and to mentorship of undergraduate research.  Teaching assignments will include Human Anatomy and Physiology, upper level courses such as Comparative Anatomy of Vertebrates or Histology, and non-major biology, plus opportunities to develop an interdepartmental seminar and to offer courses within an area of expertise.  Additional responsibilities include service to the department and university.  Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. with a strong background and research interest in morphology at the cellular or organismal level.  Preference will be given to candidates with undergraduate teaching experience and an established research agenda involving undergraduates.

Millikin University (www.Millikin.edu) is a private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1901 and is located in Decatur, Illinois. Teaching is central to the University mission, with particular emphasis in performance learning.

The Art Department offers both the Bachelor of Arts Degree and the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. The Art History courses offered are an integral part of the educational experience for our art majors. Responsibilities: four courses per semester: one section of survey: Intro to Visual Culture, plus a sequential rotation of:  Ancient and Medieval Art History, Non-Western Art History, Renaissance/Baroque Art History, Modern Art History, Contemporary Art History/Seminar.  Additional teaching duties include advising, and potential supervision of senior thesis projects.  Other responsibilities include appropriate scholarship and service.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Art History with primary focus in one of the specified teaching fields; at least two years college-level teaching experience (more preferred) beyond the teaching assistantship level, including comparable courses.  ABD considered.  Secondary area(s) of interest such as the History of Photography, Graphics, Film, or Video would be welcomed.

            The Chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance leads the department in curricular and production activities for six undergraduate degree programs (BFA in Musical Theatre, BFA emphases in Acting, Design/Production, Stage Management, Theatre Administration, and BA in Theatre), and supports the development of twelve full-time faculty members, 3-5 adjunct instructors, and 3 FTE staff serving an average student enrollment of 175 majors.  Additionally, the Chair is the Producer/Artistic Director of a six-show commercial season in three performance venues.  Seasons include musicals, plays, operas, and dance concerts. The Chair reports to the Dean of the College of Fine Arts.

Required qualifications:

·         Earned doctorate or MFA in theatre discipline

The Opportunity: The Dean of Admission will:

  • Design, develop and execute strategic recruitment plans for Millikin’s traditional, adult evening, international, and transfer undergraduate programs to increase enrollment and retention at the University.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Office of Admission and a team of approximately 15 admission professionals in both operations and admission counseling roles.

Position Description

All faculty members of the School of Nursing are responsible for carrying out the mission, purpose, and program outcomes of the School of Nursing.  Full-time faculty are responsible for making contributions in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service as described in the Millikin University Policies and Procedures: Faculty and as delineated in the School of Nursing Unit Plan.

Qualifications

·         An earned doctorate in nursing or related fields is strongly preferred.

·         A Master’s Degree in nursing is mandatory.

·         At least two years’ experience in clinical nursing practice.

·         An additional two years’ experience in baccalaureate education is preferred.

·         Current licensure as a professional registered nurse in the state of Illinois and other certifications as required.

·         Demonstrated potential for leadership in nursing practice, research, teaching and service.

Responsibilities

·         Collaborates with the Director and faculty of the School of Nursing in development, implementation, and evaluation of the mission, purpose, and outcomes of the nursing program.

·         Designs, implements, and evaluates the curriculum of the School of Nursing.

·         Serves as academic advisor to nursing students assigned by the Director.

·         Assists with the development and evaluation of student policies.

·         Evaluates student performance using Millikin University and School of Nursing standards.

·         Takes an active role in service on School of Nursing and University committees as elected or appointed by the Director.

·         Actively participates in assessment endeavors to ensure continued accreditation of the School of Nursing and Millikin University and takes responsibility for assessment activities as assigned.

·         Remains informed of developments within chosen fields of clinical nursing through formal study, research, and continued education.

·         Develops an individual Growth Plan as designated in University Policies and Procedures: Faculty.

·         Completes and submits an annual self-evaluation reported based on personal growth plan to the director in accordance to P & T guidelines.

·         Plans, implements, and evaluates courses taught each semester in accordance with the School of Nursing and University mission.

·         Evaluates student learning outcomes to ensure satisfactory student professional performance.

·         Posts office hours; and is accessible to students.

Job Summary:  Thisposition is responsible for the pick-up and processing of all universityincoming and outgoing mail, tracking of university incoming and outgoingpackages through multiple carriers, and fulfilling work orders in the PrintShop & Imaging Center area.

 

Thisposition has been designated as an “Essential” Employee under the EmergencyPreparedness Plan in order to ensure that University operations continueuninterrupted during periods of public health or other emergencies, includingthose that require Millikin University to close or restrict operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Pick up all mail from US Post Office prior to the start of business.
  • Sort interdepartmental and USPS mail for distribution to campus, process packages from UPS, express mail, media mail, Federal Express via arrival system and other vendors.
  • Maintain a secure holding for all mail and packages.
  • Maintain postal accounts for departments and individuals, including student mailbox changes.
  • Submit and reconcile monthly billing for departments and students using NeoPost, UPS and FedEx reporting tools.
  • Maintain knowledge of governmental regulations pertaining to proper mail handling and processing.
  • Responsible for bulk mailings and running processes for address verification.
  • Manage and train student workers in mail room procedures.
  • Coordinate and fulfill duties in the Print Shop & Imaging Center to ensure that work is being completed in a timely fashion.
  • Manage contracts/leases of equipment.
  • Maintain toner inventory for all departmental copiers on campus.
  • Use digital copiers, duplicators and binding equipment to provided supplication and printing services to the campus community.
  • Production of Photo ID's for campus community.
  • Maintain and process billing for services.
  • Manipulate computer software applications for electronic print work.
  • Ensure student workers are properly trained and supervised in the use of all duplicating equipment.
  • Manage and train students workers in duplicating and imaging procedures.
  • Interview and hire student workers for the mailroom and print area.
  • Sign student workers time sheets.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent

One year previous experience with copiers, finishing equipment, and mailroom experience would be helpful

Familiar with Microsoft Office and computers

Job Summary:  This position serves a dual role as a Public Safety security officer and dispatcher for the institution.  Ensuring the safety of the community via diligent patrol, life safety checks, and service to the campus community.  They also ensure the safety of the community, via monitoring of campus alarm systems, phone lines, radio network, weather/news sources, handling walk in customers, and acting as an ambassador of the department and University.
