Fun For the Whole Family

Fall Family Weekend  |  September 16th - 18th 2016

Fall Family Weekend is designed for families to visit Millikin, spend quality time with students, and enjoy a variety of programs and events. A detailed agenda is available and highlights of the 2016 schedule. Commemorate the weekend with a T-shirt, which can be purchased for $10 in the the University Center!

Schedule of Events

Friday September 16th:
 
6:00pm - Choral Concertino (Central Christian Church, 650 W. William)
A choral presentation featuring four of the Millikin Choirs including both Freshmen ensembles (Millikin Men and Millikin Women). This is an individual family option; transportation not provided

7:30pm - Drive in Movie on the Quad (Richards Treat University Center Rain Location)
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets! Enjoy a current movie on a 36’ outdoor movie screen.  
 
Saturday September 17th:
9:00am - 1:00pm: Check in/Information
Check in for FFW and receive your packets and schedule of events for the weekend, and purchase a FFW t-shirt for $10 – t-shirts are limited. A Millikin representative will be able to answer any questions you may have for the weekend.

9:00am - 1:00pm:  Parents and Family Hospitality Room (Lindsay Schaub Room in RTUC)
All family members are welcome to pop into the hospitality room during the morning to find out ways to be involved at Millikin and how to continue to support their students by joining the Parent and Family Association. Chat with some of our professional staff, and enjoy some coffee.

9:00am - 6:00pm: Arthur’s Great Pumpkin Patch
Take the entire family on an excursion to historic Arthur, Illinois, to the great Pumpkin Patch.  Pick pumpkins, go on a wagon ride, and enjoy the 2-mile Sweet Shop! 10:00am - 1:00pm: UCB Street Festival (Arrival Court)
A marketplace with games, balloon art, crafts, and information from student organizations. Live music entertainment provided by students from the College of Fine Arts!
 
2:00pm - 5:00pm: Taste of MSC (LRTUC)
The Multicultural Student Council (MSC) is the governing body of ten under-represented student organizations. These organizations will offer an opportunity for tasting food from various cultures, and interacting with Millikin’s diverse student body. Each ticket buys one sample of your choice ($2 for 5 tickets)
 
3:00pm - 5:00pm - The James Millikin Homestead Tours
You are invited to an open house at the James Millikin Homestead at 125 N. Pine St. on Saturday, September 19, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Millikin University’s founder built this nationally registered historic home for his wife, Anna, whom he married on New Year’s Day in 1857. The James Millikin Homestead has been renovated and refurbished throughout the years to reflect how this historic home would have looked when the Millikins called it home. The Homestead is located two blocks east of Millikin’s campus.

7:00pm - Millikin Men's Socces Game against Rose-Hulman

5:00pm - Midnight: Oakwood Street Festival (Oakland Street – LSB and Donnie’s)
Join this 6th Annual Decatur summer time tradition as the businesses along Oakland Street create a block party with live music, vendors, and food. This will be the last Oakwood Street Festival for the 2016 season.

7:30pm - Collage Concert – Kirkland Fine Arts Center
This performance features most all of Millikin’s major music organizations.  This event promises to be an evening full of wonderful music, showcasing some of Millikin’s top musical talent. The event is ticketed. For tickets, contact the Kirkland Box Office at 217.424.6318 (or go online to www.millikin.edu/kirkland)

8:00pm - UCB BINGO
(Richards Treat University Center)
UCB presents a family favorite - BINGO! Win prizes to area businesses, and many essentials for a successful year at MU! 
 
Sunday September 18th:

11:00am - 1:00pm: Fall Family Brunch
(Richards Treat University Center, Wornick Dining Hall)
The brunch will be an opportunity for students, along with their families and friends, to spend time with each other and current faculty and staff. Entrance for Brunch can be purchased at the door via cash or credit card.  No pre-registration.
