Millikin University - Decatur, IL
Exec Board

Ashley Long

I am from Country Club Hills, IL. My major is Sociology. Other than BSU, I am involved in the Multicultural Voices of Praise as their audio technician, and I am also the Vice President of the Sociology Club. Getting involved in BSU was one of the best decisions I've made here at Millikin. Within this organization, I've been able to improve my communication and leadership skills, network and make connections with people all across the country, spread information and awareness about being an underrepresented student on campus, as well as a minority in American society. We are waiting for you to join BSU!

Tiana White

I am from the south side of Chicago, IL. I am a junior majoring in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Special Education. Joining BSU was an absolute no-brainer for me. Before my attendance at Millikin University, I had the liberty to experience BSU through both my husband and close friends. To watch and witness my generation educate and empower their under-represented peers fueled me. With the position I have been entrusted with, I plan to reignite BSU, and I strive to create a "Live Movement" here on campus.

Bridgette Williams
Publicity Chair

I am from the north side of Chicago IL. I am a Junior and majoring in Human Services. I am Coronation Chair for the Homecoming Committee and I formerly sat on the board of the Multicultural Student Council. I am proud of having been part of the Long Vanderburg Scholarship Program as well as being a recipient of other academic awards. BSU has been good to me and I feel that the more I get involved with BSU, I am growing as a whole and not forgetting where I came from. BSU is all about giving a voice to the underrepresented students that are on campus, and who wouldn't want to be a part of that? BSU is a place where you can be yourself and see YOUR great ideas come to life! Hope to see you at a GA meeting soon!

Richard Long
Membership Chair

I am from St. Louis, MO. I am a junior majoring in Sports Management with a minor in Nutrition. I am also a member of the Student Exercise Science Organization (SESO), and I participate in Track and Field. I joined BSU because I saw a chance to network with members, other professionals, and the Millikin community. I feel that through BSU we can unite and educate those who may not relate to the Black/African American culture. Our purpose is to provide a culturally rich environment that students can feel safe in and express themselves.

Jovonne Roberson

I am from the south side of Chicago, IL, but I was raised in Memphis, TN. I am currently a junior majoring in Elementary Education. I am also involved in UNITY as a Social Justice Advocate. Being a part of BSU has made me feel like I serve a greater purpose on campus. I have learned how to speak up for under-represented students at MU, and take a stand for what I believe in. Become a part of BSU and be the change you want to see on campus!

Chiresha Davis

Born and raised in Peoria, IL, I graduated from Manual High School as the Class President and one of the top ten students. Soon after, I went to The University of Toledo to study chemical engineering for two years. I was in search of another institution and stumbled upon Millikin University's criteria and history in a college magazine. I was extremely intrigued and sold by the dual-degree program of pre-engineering. Currently, I am finishing my fourth year here at Millikin studying Chemistry. Throughout my journey here, I've grown as a student and an adult. I am prepared to enter the 'real world' and work in a field regarding my degree, hopefully involving either cosmetics or pharmaceuticals.
