Welcome to Behavioral Sciences!
The Behavioral Sciences Department will provide you with opportunities to explore the connections between mind, behavior, and society by pursuing a major or minor in Human Services, Psychology, or Sociology. Students may also pursue a major to teach psychology or sociology in the public schools, and the degree requirements for this major can be found at: Social Science, Secondary Teaching 

  • All coursework is grounded in the scientific method within a liberal arts framework. The scientific method provides the foundation for your ability to critically analyze complex, real-world problems, as well as evaluate the merits of various tentative solutions. 


  • Your studies, on and off-campus, will prepare you to understand the role diversity plays in the analysis of human behavior.


  • Training in ethics and professional standards, crucial to your personal and professional success, is an integral part of your career preparation.


  • Your program of study culminates an internship or research project that demonstrates your ability to apply your knowledge and skills to deliver services in a clinical setting or conduct laboratory research.


  • Following the completion of your degree, you will be well prepared to pursue graduate studies in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Sociology, or begin employment in a variety of social service, organizational, or research settings.
