Millikin University - Decatur, IL
Sierra Boggess In Concert October 11.

"I am so thrilled about performing at Millikin," Sierra says, "This is something that I have been wanting to do for such a long time.  I want to give back to the
school that gave me so much, and the fact that
they need a theatre building was a huge incentive to get me there."
Millikin Alum, Sierra Boggess will return to campus Homecoming weekend to give a one-night-only concert entitled Part Of OUR World.  Sierra was most recently seen as Christine Daae in the Broadway production of The The Phantom of the Opera, starring opposite Broadway's first African American Phantom and The Little Mermaid co-star, Norm Lewis.

Featuring a 26 piece orchestra and the musical theatre majors of the class of 2015, Part of OUR World will be an evening especially crafted for the Millikin/Decatur audience and will include numbers from her sold out, critically acclaimed cabaret, Awakening, performed last fall at New York's 54 Below.  Proceeds from this performance benefit the New Center for Theatre and Dance.

We hope you can join us for Part of Our World.  Tickets are available at the Kirkland Ticket office.

Enhanced ticket packages are available including a
Post Concert Dessert Reception with Sierra.

Senior Musical Theatre Major, Sidney Davis Joins Sheri Sanders in Concert
Sidney Davis ('14) is one of a small handful of singers selected to join NY singer, actor, teacher and author, Sheri Sanders in a unique, hybrid performance that will blend rock concert with master class.

Sheri Sanders' Rock The Audition vocal technique and accompanying book, Rock the Audition: How to Prepare For and Get Cast In Rock Musicals have taken New York by storm and are quickly becoming the industry standard.  Recognizing the emerging trends in contemporary musical theatre, the Department of Theatre and Dance invited Sheri to Millikin to conduct two separate residencies in this ground-breaking technique.  Students participated in a number of intensive workshops learning to select, cut, style and perform pop/rock songs for musical theatre auditions.  Millikin also became the first university to undergo the Rock The Audition Teacher Training Program, preparing members of the Theatre and Dance and School of Music faculty to teach Sheri's technique.

The relationship Sidney built with Sheri Sanders during these unique residencies led to her being cast in this exciting concert event to be held at the American Theatre of Actors in New York City on September 26th.  Sidney will be performing the iconic disco classic, Don't Leave Me This Way by Thelma Houston.  The Department of Theatre and Dance congratulates Sidney on this impressive achievement.

Jeremy Blair '06 Returns to MU for Dance Residency

Jeremy Blair ('06) former company member of Thodos Dance Chicago and currently pursuing his MFA in Dance at University of Iowa, returns to MU for a unique dance residency.

Millikin alum, Jeremy Blair (’06), has been on campus this week for an exciting residency in dance.  For five years, Jeremy was a member of the contemporary dance company, Thodos Dance Chicago (TDC).  During his tenure with the company he performed in concerts nationally and internationally and also choreographed a number of works that are now part of the TDC permanent repertoire.  Last week, Jeremy began setting a piece of his choreography on our student dancers and on Saturday evening, our students will perform the piece, entitled Reflections, in the Thodos Dance Chicago concert at Kirkland Fine Arts Center.  Reflections originally premiered at the internationally acclaimed Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, Massachusetts.

This residency offers our dancers a rare opportunity to work with an internationally acclaimed dance company right here on campus.  These seven students (plus two understudies) will become members of the TDC company for the weekend, spending time taking company class, rehearsing, dining, and performing with this group of professional dancers.  They will build professional relationships with these accomplished artists and will experience what it’s like to be part of an established dance company.  Millikin Blue will burn brightly this weekend as one of our own returns to campus to share his professional work with our students and the community.

 The cast of Reflections includes:
 Lexis Danca
  Andy Frank
 Keila Hamed-Ramos
Elliot Marach
 Mackenzie McAlindon
  Justin Ostergard
 Elena Romanowski
 Alex Buchko
   David Triptow
