founded GenOx Transportation, Inc.
in LaPorte, Texas in 2001. Building
on the lifetime experience of his father in the industrial gas industry,
and Kevin’s own experience with his father’s firm, Cryogenics
Transportation, Kevin set out to design a business model for GenOx that
would enable it to become a market leader in the transportation of
liquid nitrogen gas and industrial gas. Operating in one of the
smallest niches within the tank truck industry, his company is investing
more than $5 million a year on new equipment in anticipation of
increased customer demand in 2015. This past year, Genox generated $62
million in revenue, up from $1.2 million in revenue when the company
launched in 2001.
Kevin earned a B.S. degree in Economics in 1991 from Millikin
and has returned to campus at different times to work with students and
engage faculty in thinking and planning for entrepreneurship education.
Kevin Mathews’ career brings honor to his alma mater and we are very
pleased to recognize his achievements with this award.
