Amanda Voltz is a Chicago-based contemporary artist. As an instructor of art, Voltz teaches drawing and art appreciation, at McHenry County College (Crystal Lake, IL) and Elgin Community College (Elgin, IL). Voltz received her BFA in Painting, Drawing and Printmaking; additionally, her Art Education K-12 Certification, from Millikin University in 2008. Following with a MFA in Painting from Northern Illinois University in 2011. Throughout her graduate studies at NIU, Voltz was granted consecutive teaching and studio assistantships within the foundation and painting programs. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships including: Marilyn Sjoholm Student Scholarship, Marvin L. Klaven Art Award, David S. Monroe Art Award, Dorothy Sellers Art Award, and the Art Institute of Chicago’s Residency Program, Oxbow. Voltz pursues her career as an active artist, exhibiting regularly. In June 2014, Voltz’s solo exhibition, RUPTURE, showcased at the Starline Gallery, Harvard, IL. Prior exhibitions include: Amanda Voltz: Recent Works, VARA Fine Arts, Aurora, IL (2013), and Play-grounds, Gallery 214, DeKalb, IL (2011). She has been a part of several group shows, including: Love Under Funnel Cake and Vengaboys, Space Club HQ, Chicago (2013), commUNITY, MDW Art Fair, Chicago (2012), and Wet Paint 2010: National Painting Exhibition at Zhou B.
