Jeff ’04 & Jen ’05 Moery Griffin
Jeff: West Chicago, Ill.
Jen: Peoria, Ill.
Jeff: B.S., MIS
Jen: B.S., Biology
When, where, and how did you first meet at Millikin?
Jeff: Fall of my junior year at volleyball practice. I was a student assistant coach.
Jen: Fall of 2002 on the volleyball court in Griswold. He was a student assistant coach and I was a new transfer student/volleyball player.
What do you remember about the first time meeting each other?
Jeff: I don’t remember. I just remember her being on the volleyball team and she had bangs.
Jen: I couldn’t understand why this guy was at our volleyball practice along with another guy (Chip Ault) and why he was so loud.
What did you do on your first date?
Jeff: We went to a costume theme dance party for Delta Sig.
Jen: We went to Mi Pueblito and then to the Delta Sig fall dance party called Double Trouble. We dressed up as Donna and Eric from “That 70s Show.”
Where was your favorite place to hang-out together at Millikin?
Jeff: Probably Mi Pueblito.
Jen: The Woods or Mi Pueblito.
What is your most memorable Millikin experience as a couple?
Jeff: Probably the Delta Sig formal my senior year.
Jen: It was actually after he graduated. He used to come to as many volleyball games as possible and he was the best at cheering. I could always hear him above anyone else in the crowd and I remember that the most.
Where has your relationship taken you since Millikin?
Jeff: Husband, father, pet owner, traveled together to Hawaii, California, South Carolina, Florida and Mexico.
Jen: We’ve been together for 10 years and married for seven. We live in Bolingbrook, Ill., with our beautiful 2 ½-year-old daughter, Mackenzie, and our cat, Robin. We have an awesome group of Millikin friends that we’ve had the pleasure of growing up with, from weddings to babies, and lots of fun trips and parties in between. It has been a great ride and I can’t imagine doing it with anyone else.
What advice would you give young couples in love at Millikin?
Jeff: Don’t have kids until you are older, and enjoy your time together.
Jen: Take in every fun moment while you are in college because once you graduate, it becomes harder and harder to find time to do the fun things. Also, go outside your comfort zone every once in a while – it is the best way to make new friends.
