  • More than 200 brothers and guests attended the Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Illinois Delta fraternity Centennial Celebration dinner on Saturday night. It was one of the largest alumni events of the weekend.
  • It was a wonderfully clear evening for stargazing on Saturday at the Requarth Observatory, housed on the fifth and sixth floors of Leighty-Tabor Science Center.
  • More than 20 alums gave presentations on campus as part of Homecoming’s Career Connections Program.
  • All-alumni group Chapter 6 hosted and performed at the Homecoming Talent Show and was presented with a Young Alumnus Award.
  • Homecoming King and Queen Eric Burgett and Kaitlin Brassil, both seniors, attended the football game. Burgett. a piano performance major from Latham, Ill., sang the national anthem before the game. Brassil, an athletic training major from Homer Glen, Ill., worked the game as a student athletic trainer, and is on the women’s basketball team.

End zones to be named in honor of former coach.
Members of the 1961 Undefeated Football Team made a surprise announcement at the Homecoming Alumni Awards Dinner. As a team, they have pledged $35,000 to the “Transform MU” capital campaign to name the football field end zones in honor of their beloved coach, Don Shroyer, class of 1951. The “Transform MU” campaign includes new artifical turf and lights for Frank M. Lindsay Field and the 1961 team pledge is a part of that effort.
