Clint Eastwood made his best-selling book into a movie and now this author is speaking on Millikin's campus. James Bradley, author of "Flags of Our Fathers," a book about the six soldiers who raised the American flag on Iwo Jima, will speak Tuesday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Kirkland Fine Arts Center. One of those soldiers raising the flag was Bradley's dad.

Join "the Penguin" John Bingham `70 for his namesake race, the Penguin in the Park 5K Run/Walk in Decatur's Fairview Park on March 24. This race embraces the speedy as well as those who take their time and enjoy the course! A post-race party will be held in Millikin's Griswold Physical Education Center. Millikin alumni, faculty/staff and students receive a registration discount, and a portion of the race proceeds benefit a Millikin scholarship in honor of the race. The Millikin University Choir will sing at Carnegie Hall at 8:30 p.m., Sunday, March 25. The UChoir will open the concert with a 30-minute set and then join in a performance by the high school National Festival Chorus, which this year is being directed by UChoir director Dr. Brad Holmes, MU professor of music and director of choral studies. Tickets for the performance are available now (Use code FTN13498 to receive the Millikin discount).
Before the concert, you're invited to join alumni and friends for a 6 p.m. pay-as-you-go dinner at Rosie O'Grady's, 800 7th Avenue at 52nd Street.

After 30 years teaching at Millikin, Rick Bibb, professor of marketing, will be retiring this May. The Big Blue Sapphires dance team finished fifth in the open pom division at the Universal Dance Association national championships in January. The Millikin team was one of only two teams from Illinois to make the finals.
