Nurse Anesthesia Program selects first class.

Millikin and Decatur Memorial Hospital staff members will conduct interviews in early February to select members for the first class to enter a new joint new Nurse Anesthesia Program. Fourteen students will be accepted along with four alternates from among all those who have applied. Classes begin in June.

Applications for classes beginning June 2012 will be accepted until Sept. 1. More

Feed the birds

February is National Bird Feeding Month. Did you know that the National Bird-Feeding Society is hosted at Millikin? Day-to-day operations are coordinated by Dr. David J. Horn, associate professor of biology, and Stacey Shonkwiler Johansen '07, manager of Millikin’s Ornithological Research Lab.

The student becomes the teacher

Lauren Vander Pluym ’07 invited her college mentor Dr. Tim Kovalcik ’96, MU assistant professor of history, to accompany her high school students to eastern Europe last summer, where they learned about the Holocaust and its relationship to the modern phenomenon of genocide. She was inspired to organize the trip by her experience in Kovalcik’s Holocaust immersion course at Millikin. More

IRA rollover gift opportunity extended

Congress has reinstated a charitable IRA rollover opportunity for 2010 and 2011. If you have an IRA, are aged 70½ or older and would like to use funds from your IRA funds to make a charitable gift to Millikin without having the distribution taxed as income, you may do so through the end of January 2011 and treat the gift as if it were made in 2010. More

One of baseball's great rivalries
