Goodbye to a generous friend of Millikin
Millikin lost a good friend and a generous benefactor with the death of Charles "Perk" Perkinson, on May 31. He and his late wife, Patricia '45, helped reshape Millikin through their $8 million gift to renovate and endow the School of Music building, which was renamed Perkinson Music Center in their honor.

As long-time Millikin supporters and donors, the Perkinsons’ many gifts to Millikin also included naming Perkinson Gallery in Kirkland Fine Arts Center, as well as bringing the iconic Mr. B.B. statue to campus. MORE

UChoir live from Ireland
A group of alumni and friends recently accompanied the University Choir on a tour of Ireland, Scotland and England. Many Uchoir fans who were unable to travel to Ireland were still able to enjoy the group’s May 25th performance from St. Mary's Church, Irishtown Clonmel, when it streamed over the Internet. Alan Held ’81 tweeted as he watched in Baden-Baden, Germany.

Check out a few of the photos taken on the tour on the Millikin University Alumni Facebook page.

Lab school partnership being considered

A study by officials of Millikin and the Decatur School District could turn Dennis Elementary School into a lab school for Millikin students. The school, which serves students from kindergarten through sixth grade, is located only a few blocks from campus in the historic West End of the city.

The issue is currently under study and a decision is expected sometime this summer. If the lab school concept is approved, it will be implemented in fall 2012. MORE
