Coming this summer to Lindsay Field – new turf.
MU Turf

Alumni and friends are invited to a ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony at Frank M. Lindsay Field tomorrow, May 16, at 11 a.m. for the new artificial turf playing surface that will be installed at the field this summer. The field turf project, part of Millikin's "Transform MU" capital campaign, is being funded by donors to the university. The project also includes the installation of field lighting and resurfacing the track. Read the May issue…

Since construction needs to begin as soon as possible to meet the scheduled completion date, Millikin will hold the brief ceremonial groundbreaking during the Board of Trustees meeting at Frank M. Lindsay Field. Alumni and friends attending the groundbreaking should park in the Kirkland Fine Arts Center parking lot that morning. Shuttle service will be available to the field.

Unable to attend? We'll be posting photos and video from the groundbreaking at millikin.edu/transform, as well as construction updates throughout the summer. Follow along and watch as we celebrate this transformational chapter in Millikin Athletics!

Let the celebration begin: Commencement set for May 17 and 18.

Nearly 350 graduates will receive diplomas on Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. in the Decatur Civic Center at Millikin’s traditional commencement ceremony. Theatre and dance alumna and humanitarian Shawn Lent ’00 will be the keynote speaker. Graduates of the PACE and MBA programs will receive their diplomas on Saturday, May 17, at 7 p.m. in Kirkland Fine Arts Center. Dr. Randall Rentfro ’78, a member of MU's board of trustees and associate professor of accounting at the University of Tampa, will serve as keynote speaker. Blue and White Scholarship Challenge exceeds goal.
Blue and White Scholarhsip Challenge

You did it! The Blue and White Scholarship Challenge featured a two-day social media campaign with a goal of raising $200,000 to help fund scholarships for Millikin students. Thanks to the generosity of more than 300 alumni, friends, faculty and staff members, $202,000 was raised on May 1 and 2. Although the initial “blitz” is over, donations to the challenge will be accepted through June 30. If you have not already done so, please consider being a part of this important effort to help make our students’ dreams of a college education come true. Honors Convocation, Celebrations of Scholarship highlight performance learning.

Performance learning came alive on the Millikin campus late last month with the 2014 Celebrations of Scholarship. Starting with Honors Convocation, the three days also featured a poster symposium and a Day of Scholarship, as students displayed their work and shared in this annual opportunity to celebrate their academic efforts. Research topics ranged from a quantum mechanics symposium to a presentation on the relationship of the media and psychological disorders, to name just two examples.
