Dr. Gerald A. Ewing, 83, of Sarasota, FL. died on Feb. 14, 2013.
After graduating from Decatur High School, Jerry proudly entered the United States Marine Corp., where according to him, he learned valuable life long lessons. After leaving the USMC, he attended Millikin University in Decatur, IL, before entering Dental School at Loyola University, in Chicago, IL.He moved to Sarasota in 1961, where he opened his first dental practice. He was a Mason, a former Commander of the Sarasota Sailing Squadron, and volunteered teaching English and Reading.He will be missed for his quick wit, sense of humor, compassion, never ending words of wisdom, and unconditional love.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 22 years, June Ewing; daughters, Karen (Bob) Bang, Susan Gadd, Lisa (Doc) Hertensen, Diane (Bill) Bezdek, Sons, George Kruse, Bob (Cathie) Kruse, Tom (Cindy) Kruse; Grandchildren, Ian Childers, Travis Gadd, Matthew Gadd, Will Hertensen, Erika Bang, Meghan Bang, George Kruse, Jim Kruse, Matt Kruse, Ben Kruse, Jamie DellaVecchia, Bobby Kruse, Ryan Kruse, Tom Kruse, Danielle Hansen, Michael Kruse, Nicki Sparkman, Heather Bascone, and Kelli Bascone; 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Dr. Lee Ann Ewing.
