Pamela Peterson Ausen (Bowman), 62, of Billings, was born on December 28, 1948 to Robert and Darlyne Peterson. Pamela passed away on Thursday November 3, 2011 after a long illness with pancreatic cancer.
Pam's early years growing up in Billings were filled with much joy and activity. She enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, and the Girl Scouts. While in the Scouts she enjoyed the outings and became a counselor to the younger girls.
Pam was a devoted Christian who loved Sunday School and other church activities. After graduating from Senior High, Pam and a friend, Cheri Hoffman, spent nine months touring and working in Europe. When Pam returned she married and relocated to Decatur, IL where she had three wonderful children.
As a single mother Pam attended college and at age 38 graduated from Millikin University with a degree in education. Pam then taught at Little People's Prep School and in the Decatur Public Schools.
Pam's life was devoted toward teaching younger children to learn and she enjoyed every minute of it. Pam returned to Billings in 1993 and shortly after married Michael Ausen of Billings.
In Billings Pam was a lead teacher at Little Seeds Day Care for seven years before becoming the lead teacher at Shirley's Place, St. Vincent's day care. Pam taught there for eight years.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert S. Peterson. Pam is survived by her husband Michael; mother Darlyne Peterson; sister Debora (Tim) Degnan; brother Gordon Peterson; daughter Andrea (William) Whisler; sons Eric (Holly) Bowman and Ryan (Tessa) Bowman; step-sons Jason (Haley) Ausen and Phillip (Heather) Ausen; and 14 grandchildren.
