James "Bruce" Irons, 68, of Decatur, retired mental health specialist, died Tuesday May 1, 2012, surrounded by his family and friends. Memorials are requested to be directed to the Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) at www.cotaforgilliani.com. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements. Bruce Irons was born in Rochester, New York on July 30, 1943, into the family of James Ralph and Evelyn Elizabeth Wheeler Irons. Bruce was the first born of three sons born into the Irons family. He married Leta Schempf on June 19, 1971. Bruce was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he loved serving his Lord. Bruce is survived by his wife, Leta; son, Michael (Leslie) Irons of Maroa; brothers, Barry (Jill) Irons of Zionsville, Indiana; Greg (Flor) Irons of Guadalajara, Mexico; granddaughters, Gillian and Grace, of Maroa., beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Ralph Irons and son, David.
