William Ahlstrand passed away in Inverness, FL from complications due to pneumonia.
Bill was born and raised in Chicago and a life-long Cubs fan. He proudly served in the US Marines from 1946-1948, and graduated from Millikin University in 1952.
He met his beloved Gloria, nee Stopka, in Chicago and married in 1957. Last summer, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by many family and friends. Bill began his career with Advance Transformer in Chicago. He was GM of the Advance Transformer plant in Boscobel, WI until 1988. He returned to Chicago and retired from Advance/Phillips in 1990.
He and Gloria moved to Homosassa, FL in 1991. Bill loved to play golf and was downhill skiing until 2006. He loved smooth jazz, good food, a close ball game, time with friends and family, a cold drink and a good story.
In retirement, Bill and Gloria traveled often to Chicago and Minneapolis to visit their daughters and families. Bill is survived and deeply missed by his beloved Gloria, his daughters Carol (Tim Graupman) of Excelsior, MN and Corie (Martin Matushek) of West Dundee, IL and his grandchildren Alaina, Katherine, Lillian and William and a myriad of friends.
