Donald D. Latshaw, 75, of Findlay, IL departed this life to serve his Lord on November 10, 2012.
He was born on January 24, 1937 to Kenneth and Eunice Latshaw in Decatur, IL. Don graduated in the Class of 1955 at Decatur High School. Don proudly served his country with the 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in July 1958. Don always had a strong love of the outdoors which helped him pursue a career in land surveying. Don worked for several consulting engineering firms in the Central Illinois area as a Licensed Land Surveyor. Later Don joined the A.E. Staley Engineering Department from where he retired in February 1993. Don and his son, John, built a pipeline inspection company, TeleScan, Inc. from which he retired in 2011.
Don was active in the Macon County Conservation District for 5 years. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America as a Scout Master for 16 years and a member of Lincoln Trails Council for 4 years.
Don loved his family above all else. Everyone who knew him knew of his love of nature, hunting, fishing, camping and the outdoors. He once broke his leg in four places trying to help a three legged deer and was given an etched glass award to commemorate the event by his dear friends.
Don is survived by his wife: Mary; sons: Steve and his wife Tiffanie of California, John and his wife Jennifer of Mt. Zion; daughter: Anne of Indiana; step-son: Ryan Huttes and his wife Jennifer of Dalton City; step-daughter: Heather Bright and her husband Chris of Moweaqua; 5 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Mike and sister: Sally.
