Virginia Marie Aukamp, 79, of Macon, IL passed away at 5:35 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 11, 2014) at Moweaqua Nursing & Retirement Center.
Virginia was born on December 7, 1934 in Mode, IL, the daughter of Vernon and Esther (Gillespie) Rincker. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Millikin University, her Master’s Degree and Ph.D. from the University of Texas. Virginia worked as a Registered Nurse at Decatur Memorial Hospital. She then began teaching nursing at Millikin University, then went on to teach at Lincoln Land Community College, University of Missouri and finally at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She taught CPR through the Red Cross for South Macon Volunteer Fire Department. Virginia had two books published for Maternal Child Nursing Curriculum. She was also the parish nurse for the community churches in Macon and at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Decatur where she was a faithful member. Virginia married Lloyd W. Aukamp on June 27, 1954.
She is survived by her husband: Lloyd W. Aukamp of Macon, IL; sons: Michael (Kimberly) Aukamp of Decatur, IL, Matthew Aukamp of Butner, NC; brothers: Thomas (Susan) Rincker of Sunrise Beach, MO, John (Nina) Rincker of Mattoon, IL, Gene Rincker of Collinsville, IL; sisters: Shirley (David) Parks of Wentzville, MO, Mary of Texas, Lavonda Weber of Mattoon, IL; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild; one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Wayne Rincker and sister: Bertha Totten.
