Francis J. “Frank” Davis of rural Champaign passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Mr. Davis was born Feb. 5, 1939, in Kinmundy, a son of Glenn W. and Mary E. Davis.
Mr. Davis graduated from Sacred Heart Grade School, Effingham, and Effingham High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in business from Millikin University in 1964 and a Doctor of Law from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1971. He practiced law in Champaign County from 1971 to 2000, when he retired.
Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Army for the Assistant Chief of Staff, Intelligence, at the Pentagon and in the Dominican Republic. He received several medals and commendations.
Survivors include three brothers, George W. Davis of La Belle, Fla., John R. Davis of Effingham and Charles C. Davis of Effingham; and four sisters, Ethel M. Wilson of Effingham, Emma R. Peterson of Divernon, Ruth A. Kramer of Sun City Center, Fla., and Sharon E. Craddock of Mahomet.
His parents and a sister, Mildred Sage, preceded him in death.
