The following includes brief updates from Millikin students about their study abroad experience.
Christin and Jessica - Dominican Republic
Christin and I are both settling in nicely to our apartment and at the school. After a LONG few days of traveling (our flight information got changed 7 times because of maintenance and weather problems with American Airlines), we made it to Santiago! Our luggage eventually found us, but Miss Jennie (our principal), and our fellow teachers have been most accommodating. We are both in our first week of observation for student teaching. We are practicing our spanish (a lot!) and our colleagues are helping us to correct our grammar. We are getting to know the area through short excursions and have visited many of the local grocery stores. I think I speak for both of us in saying that we are thrilled at this opportunity. It is all that we expected and more. Our apartment has a few issues, but nothing that we cannot overcome. It could not stop us from enjoying this wonderful experience.
Helena - Paris
Everything is great over here! Just adjusting to how uncoordinated the school is compared to back home! But other than that, I am enjoying my time here, exploring, and getting ready to travel to other countries!
Grant - Italy
Hey I just wanted to check in and let you know that I'm still alive. I've put a hold on my travel plans until march when the weather gets better. Also, I'm running a marathon in Zurich in April so that should be interesting. Everything with school is going very good and the roommates are good guys.
Dan Mayer - Lyon
Sorry for not responding sooner. The internet in my room is absolutely dreadful so it took me almost a dozen times of refreshing my email and trying to open your emails to even read them. So Far everything has been really nice in Lyon. I've met a lot of great people and the coordinators here at CEFAM are very helpful. My classes are also going pretty well. I'm only in 1 class that seems to be really difficult, but I think I should be to pull through. I hope all is well at Millikin!
