It is a pleasure to accept the recommendation of the Employee Recognition Committee that Lori Kerans be honored as Employee of the Month for May 2011. Lori began working at Millikin University in the Alumni and Development Office as a Data Entry Clerk on August 1, 1986. Lori has held several positions in the Athletic and Student Life Departments, including Director of the Ralph Allan-Dorothy McClure Fitness/Wellness Center, Director of Athletics and Recreation, and Vice President for Student Life and Academic Development. Lori currently is the Head Women's Basketball Coach and has been in that position since October 1, 1987.
The Employee Recognition Committee received very compelling support for Lori’s nomination, including the following comments:
“Her dedication, leadership, and commitment to athletics have been unmatched.”
“Lori has gone above and beyond with her efforts in recruiting athletes to Millikin University amidst transitions within the athletic department. Her commitment to the University is evident as she looks to bring in students for all teams, in addition to Women's Basketball.”
“Lori has always done an outstanding job! However, recently with all the changes taking place in athletics, Lori has really stepped up to the plate and showed her leadership and motivation. I greatly appreciate all Lori has done to continue through tough times this year and see that student athletes are contacted even if they are not a women's basketball player. Thank you Lori for all of your hard work and countless hours!”
“Lori has done an incredible job taking the lead in recruitment for athletics over the past couple of months. As you know, there has been considerable turnover in that department. Recruitment from the athletic side is critical to the success of this institution, and Lori has done her best to solidify the class that is coming in. It would not be at the level it is without her hard work and organization.”
“Lori has been an integral part of continued recruitment in the Athletic Department. This has been a year of coaching transitions, and as a veteran Lori has taken the new coaches under her wing and assisted them in orienting to campus. She has focused her energy on creating cohesion in the Athletic Department, and has been an outstanding support system for the entire coaching staff. Lori is an outstanding employee and well deserving of this honor.”
Congratulations, Lori, on such a well-deserved honor!
