We are pleased to announce that the Millikin University's Employee Recognition Committee has selected Marianne Taylor as Employee of the Month for September 2011. Marianne was just recently named Graduate Programs Coordinator.
“I would have to say that Marianne is amazingly responsive to student needs. She goes above and beyond what she needs to do to help them out - especially with all the new programs!”
“Marianne Taylor puts her heart and soul into everything she does. She goes the extra mile everyday to help promote Millikin as the ‘school of choice’ as she goes about recruiting for the School of Nursing’s MSN programs. The MSN students have Marianne to thank for making their transition into our programs go so smoothly. She helps with everything from recruiting, answering endless questions, to physically taking them to look at apartments and does it all with a great disposition and a smile on her face. She is a wonderful person to work with and a great team player. I think the MSN program would not be what it is today without Marianne’s endless dedication to the job.”
“Marianne goes the extra mile, is thorough, is student oriented, lives the MU mission when she is recruiting potential MSN students, and is always ready to help.”
“Marianne is one of the administrative assistants in the School of Nursing office whom I would highly recommend for employee of the month. She works predominately with the graduate nursing students and faculty. She is very knowledgeable, well organized and committed to the mission of Millikin University. Recently, she has actively worked with the Marketing department in recruitment efforts of graduate nursing students, which has resulted in tremendous growth. This is just one example of the many roles Marianne assumes beyond her regular duties. In addition, she is always willing to lend a hand when needed and is so accommodating. From answering the wide array of student questions to assisting faculty, Marianne keeps the graduate nursing program moving forward. I feel very fortunate to work with Marianne on a daily basis. I know that if there is an issue, she will be there with a smile and ready to go the extra mile. Marianne exemplifies what Millikin is all about: quality, caring service.”
“Marianne Taylor is an intelligent, creative, energetic, efficient, and extremely pleasant individual. She brings much to the School of Nursing and works exceptionally well with the variety of personalities in the School of Nursing. I have never seen her become impatient with any student, faculty, or guest in the School of Nursing. She is faithful and cheerful in her execution of her SON duties. Marianne is the epitome of reliable, dependable, and available. She is project-oriented, not task-oriented. She is a broad thinker and a team player. She simply gets whatever needs to be done …. done! Marianne communicates to a variety of constituents in a professional manner. Whether it is the advertising company rep or the distraught student, she is articulate, caring, and always in problem-solving mode in her response.
Marianne is always thinking and problem solving about a situation or challenge from a new perspective. I never feel as though trying something new in the School of Nursing will be met with anything but support from her. She is a ‘can-do’ person. Marianne Taylor is a forward-thinking, but a ‘get ‘er done today’ type of woman. She thinks of strategies, offers them forward, discusses them in a forthright manner, but then gets the job done even if it is not in the manner she anticipated. Marianne Taylor plans and implements, in collaboration with Marketing, the plan for the MSN recruitment. She steers the process from first inquiry to admission in a very adept manner. She tracks budget for the program and for a federal grant we have received. Her mind is always turning trying to figure out a better way to do something.
Marianne Taylor has an internal mantra that whispers, ‘If I don’t know it today … I’ll not only learn it today, I’ll be teaching it to someone else tomorrow.’ She has an incredible wealth of knowledge and insight about how to plan and run the Master of Science in Nursing’s day-to-day, week-to-week, semester-to-semester, and year-to-year activities related to enrollment, admission, and progression. She anticipates activities of the program, works collaboratively with her colleagues, and plans and implements strategies which not only help the MSN program run more smoothly, but run, run, run! She really is quite an amazing colleague.”
