During the first days of your American life an orientation session will be organized just for you. You will receive the schedule for this orientation prior to your arrival at Millikin University.
Upon arrival in the United States, the Center for International Education (CIE) team welcomes students on a specific day at the O’Hare International Airport in Chicago. You will be notified of a specific date and location where Millikin University employees will meet you at the airport. However, if for any reason you decide to arrive on a date other than Millikin's scheduled pick-up date, you will need to make arrangements for traveling from Chicago to Decatur yourself.
Transportation options include: Air Travel
- you can use the airline AirChoice One
which flies directly from Chicago to Decatur; or Ground Transportation
- Baldwin Shuttle
(a shuttle bus service) provides direct transportation from Chicago to Millikin. Millikin will provide you with details about how to schedule these services. Don’t worry; Millikin will make sure you arrive safely, and we will be there to help you anytime.
The Center for International Education team will plan to greet you upon your arrival at Millikin and help you to get settled into your residence hall room. Once on campus, you will receive your housing assignment, campus address and telephone number, so that you can share this information with your family and friends.
Please bring a light blanket and one towel with you and basic toiletries. You will have a chance to go shopping for other items you need during orientation. Click here to review a complete list of what to bring to campus.
