Blue Connection Fine Arts Gallery, located at 117 N. Water St. in Decatur, Ill., will host "Bold is Gold," a March After 5 Live event scheduled for Friday, March 7 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Fine paintings, ceramics and other pieces of fine art will be on display. Complimentary refreshments will be provided; the event is free and open to the public.
The featured artists for the March After 5 Live event include 14 Millikin University fine art students and faculty members. The student artists were hand-selected by Millikin fine art faculty members.
Jessica Claussen, a junior art therapy major from Grant Park, Ill., says, "My pieces in the show are some of my newest, especially my paintings. It is an honor to be in a gallery with so many other wonderful artists."
Millikin's Arts & Entrepreneurship program
provides performance-based business opportunities for students to exercise self-employment. The program utilizes student-run ventures to provide students live practice in developing, launching, and growing a business.
Tyler Hicks-Oliver, a senior entrepreneurship major from Decatur, Ill., commented on Blue Connection's growth since its After 5 Live February event. "We all have a desire to put our best foot forward and not just run the gallery, but continue to make it better all the while enhancing our skill sets as future career working men and women. I see more great things to come."
