Millikin University is part of an elite group of universities recognized by Forbes magazine in its online list of "America's Top Colleges 2014" and as one of the Midwest's best colleges in The Princeton Review's 2015 College Selection Guide.
Millikin is one of 25 colleges from Illinois to make Forbes' national ranking of 650 academic institutions, and is one of 159 institutions The Princeton Review recommends in its "Best in the Midwest" section of its website feature, "2015 Best Colleges: Region by Region," on princetonreview.com/college-rankings
"The recent recognition as one of America's best colleges by Forbes and The Princeton Review confirm what those with experience at Millikin day-to-day know – that the opportunities for learning and personal growth we offer students are truly extraordinary," said Millikin University Provost Dr. Jeffery P. Aper. "The long time commitment to Performance Learning brings an added dimension to a Millikin education, which is just not matched by most other institutions of higher education. I congratulate my faculty and staff colleagues for this national recognition of their continuing commitment and excellent work in assuring that Millikin students get a world-class education."
America's Top Colleges rankings are prepared exclusively for Forbes with research from the Center for College Affordability and Productivity (CCAP) and based on numerous factors that evaluate student satisfaction, post-graduate success, student success in garnering nationally competitive awards, student debt and four-year graduation rates.
Forbes explains, "The Forbes list of 650 schools distinguishes itself from competitors by our belief in output over input. We're not all that interested in what gets a student into college, like our peers who focus heavily on selectivity metrics such as high school class rank, SAT scores and the like. Our sights are set directly on ROI – what are students getting out of college?"
Millikin University President Dr. Patrick E. White added, "It is always happy news to have others recognize what all of us at Millikin University know deeply – Millikin is a great university committed to excellence in teaching and learning inside and outside the classroom. The Princeton Review ranking, because it is based on results from those who know Millikin best, our students, is especially gratifying; and the Forbes listing as one of America's Top Colleges shows that Millikin ranks with some of the best known colleges and universities in the country. Behind these recognitions is Millikin's commitment to Performance Learning, through which every student is challenged and supported to learn and do, to act and perform in a way that builds confidence, competence, and success."

The listings in The Princeton Review's "2015 Best Colleges: Region by Region" website section are based on institutional data obtained from the colleges in 2013-2014, as well as student survey data on numerous issues including academics, student population, and overall campus life.
"We developed our 'Best Colleges: Region by Region' lists to offer guidance for the growing number of students and parents now seeking colleges closer to home," said Princeton Review's Senior VP / Publisher Robert Franek. "We selected Millikin University and the other terrific institutions on our 'regional best' lists primarily for their excellent academic offerings."
