Millikin University will host an Open House with its Professional Adult Comprehensive Education (PACE) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs on Thursday, April 8 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Kirkland Fine Arts Center’s Perkinson Gallery. The Open House offers adults the opportunity to meet with advisors and faculty members to learn program specifics.
Millikin’s PACE program is ideal for adults who may have previously earned an associate’s degree or some college credit at other institutions. PACE offers an accelerated evening class format which allows students to take one class at a time one evening per week for 5-10 weeks, depending on the major. The program offers five Bachelor of Science majors: Accounting, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Nursing RN to BSN, and Organizational Leadership. PACE also offers Educator Certification for Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education for adults who have already earned a bachelor’s degree but would like to become teachers.
The School of Nursing offers adults a master’s program with three tracks: Clinical Nurse Leader, Nurse Educator, and the new Master’s Entry into Nursing Practice-Pre Licensure. The MSN tracks for Clinical Nurse Leader and Nurse Educator are ideal for working nurses because courses are offered one day per week over an 18-month period. This program is designed for nurses with a BSN who want to advance their careers beyond a bachelor’s degree. The third MSN track is the new Master’s Entry into Nursing Practice- Pre Licensure (MENP-PL), which will allow adults who have completed a non-nursing bachelor’s degree to switch careers and take courses that will prepare them to be eligible to sit for the registered nurse licensure exam with an earned MSN. This innovative program is recruiting its first class of students. It is a two-year, intensive, full-time accelerated program.
A representative from the Registrar’s Office will be available to evaluate college transcripts and determine the number of credits that may be transferred into the PACE program. Individuals interested in transcript evaluation should bring unopened official transcripts from all universities and colleges attended. A financial aid representative will also be available to explain the financial aid process to prospective students.
