Millikin University is pleased to announce that Jesus Velasco was named Employee of the Year for the 2011-2012 academic year during a recognition ceremony held April 19, 2012.
Voting for Employee of the Year was conducted among Millikin faculty, staff and students. Votes were cast by making a monetary donation for a candidate who was an Employee of the Month during the academic year. The Employee of the Year is chosen by the Employee of the Month Committee and this voting, among other things, is taken into consideration when making the final selection. The competition was open to hourly and professional staff at Millikin.
Velasco was Millikin’s Employee of the Month for August 2011. Jesus has served as the Coordinator of International Student Services in the Center for International Education since August 3, 2009.
Velasco received several prizes, including all of the money collected in the voting process, an extra week paid vacation, season tickets to 2012-2013 Kirkland events and Department of Theatre and Dance productions, and many other great prizes from Millikin and Decatur area businesses.
