Millikin University’s adult degree completion program, PACE (Professional Adult Comprehensive Education), will celebrate National Non-Traditional Students Week November 1-7.
The week will kick off on November 3 with a PACE Open House from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. in the Kirkland Fine Arts Center. PACE students Danielle Fields and Stacy Witts will be available at the event to speak to individuals interested in the program.
On Wednesday, November 4, Dr. Jim Dahl, interim dean of the College of Professional Studies will host a reception for PACE students named to the Dean’s List over the last two semesters. The reception will be held from 5:15-6 p.m. in ADM-Scovill Hall.
Also on Wednesday, a reception will be held in Champaign from 5-6 p.m. for PACE students attending Millikin classes on the Parkland College campus. The event will be held in Building D, Room 244. PACE Director Angela Ambers-Henderson and Education Faculty Coordinator for Remote Sites Dr. Karl Radnitzer will host the event.
On Thursday, November 5, Millikin’s chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda, an honor society for non-traditional students will host their annual induction ceremony at 6 p.m. in Pilling Chapel. Dr. Cheryl Chamblin, professor of business and director of Millikin’s Honors Program will be the featured speaker.
In addition to these activities, PACE will honor some of its students with profiles and pictures in the display case in Shilling Hall and on the PACE Web site. Featured students include: Matt Emmert (Criminal Justice), Danielle Fields (Organizational Leadership), TyKyna Fox (Criminal Justice), Arthur T. Hinton III (Organizational Leadership), Nick Kendall (Elementary Education, Educator Certification), Anne Mikalik (Nursing), and Donna Musson (Early Childhood Education).
Millikin’s PACE program is the perfect way for adult learners to become yet another Millikin success story. Classes are offered in the evenings and meet one or two times per week for five, eight or 10 weeks depending on the program. Millikin will be starting another group of adult learners on their way to earning a high quality Millikin degree in January.
